Pilton Somerset Keeved Cider 2020 4.5% 75cl

Pilton Somerset Keeved Cider is made using the traditional 'keeving' method. In this method, bittersweet cider apples are partially fermented to produce a natural medium cider with no sweeteners or pasteurization.

Wild yeasts, cold cellars and Pilton's nutrient-poor orchards are all important elements in the 'keeving' process. This light and refreshing cider is best served chilled, as an aperitif or with dinner.

Description

Pilton Somerset Keeved Cider is a product of Martin Berkeley, the maker of Pilton cider. Berkeley is a master of 'keeving'; an artisanal method that allows the maker to retain some of the natural sweetness in a cider. This ancient technique requires a lot of knowledge and skill. In its simplest definition, "keeving" is a traditional fermentation method used to produce sparkling, semi-dry, and sweet ciders without the addition of additional sugars. For its ciders, Berkeley uses the bittersweet cider apples that grow in traditional orchards around Pilton's parish.
