Welcome to the world of Maison Gamet, where tradition and innovation meet in the heart of Champagne. Excellent champagne has been produced on the family estate in Mardeuil for many years.
In addition to their Champagne, Gamet now also produces cider. This cider made in 2022 consists of a blend of 100% sour apples, mainly the Judor apple (80%), supplemented with the Rambault, Petit Jaune, Rougets de Dol and Locart Vert apples from Normandy. The cider is fermented for three months in stainless steel vats and meticulously controlled, guaranteeing precision and quality.
Why Normandy Cider Apples? The lack of good apples locally provided Gamet with a unique opportunity to explore the diverse apple varieties of Normandy. “However, like many cider producers, Gamet continues to value producers from the local area,” explains Violette from Maison Gamet. “Gamet is deeply rooted in the local community, sourcing apples from a nearby farmer just 50 kilometres away and has embarked on an exciting new venture with the planting of 180 trees in Fleury la Rivière. This new orchard promises a future of sustainability and self-reliance, ensuring a consistent supply of premium apples for their flagship ciders. This expansion not only signifies growth, but also an unwavering commitment to preserving the craft of cider making for generations to come.
